Sunday morning at Burke's Bong for some more time trial training. Maybe, we could get this course scheduled for the 2013 Mid America Time Trial Series? |
Bizzy, Bob, Reed, Val, Leigh, Mike, Brian and Ben. What a bunch of narcissistic primates we've all become? |
Two days in a row training on the TT bike? It was definitely peer pressure for the Jaminator! So much so, he broke his saddle. Thank goodness it happen today and not next Sunday. |
The warm up lap with the commander and chief leading the way. Make sure you watch out for the ducks and angry motorcyclists. |
Another awesome Saturday morning at the track for interval training. John, you missed a fast one, but you didn't miss the "fun."
Dougie D, let's role this renegade operation. What's up with the fog?
This man lives for the track! Better yet anytime he's on two wheels. I think we can all can understand that need.
Northbrook Park District does an amazing job keeping this track in excellent condition.
Ben Widoff hitched a ride from farm country to make a special track appearance. He might have given in because of a little peer pressure. As always, he was throwing down some serious power.
Brian Harris was also there dialing in his new TT bike. Some of you might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it as he goes flying by at an upcoming race.
"Don't worry Leigh...it won't get put on the blog. If he does, I'm gonna..."
Leigh's getting some pictures of the Jaminator's techno weenie setup. However, she was a little concerned with the electrical tape, but it works!
Camera in the front films the painful catch. |
Camera in the rear watches you disappear. It also records your lame excuses you utter when you fail to hold the wheel.
"Did you see him flipping you the bird when you hit the nitrous somewhere around 8 minutes?"
That pretty much sums it up! |
At this point, things are getting pretty rough for me. I don't have a clue where this guy gets his strength.
Thank goodness the caffeine finally kicked in, or I would have been DOA!
Velogoddess, this was beating against my eardrums when I was trying to stay ahead of your old teammate.
Las Vegas is the proud sponsor of the Renegade Time Trail Series. If you make it here, be sure to say hi to Helen.
For any of you who raced at the Stray Kats Cordova weekend back in July, here are two links to the pictures that were taken on Saturday and Sunday.
This has to be the best location that MATTS has for a time trial. Even all the country roads around this area are excellent roads for training.

The last 40K TT will be the Double Bong on Sunday, August 26th in Kansasville, WI. Therefore, it's your last chance to improve your 40K time, or it's time for you to get the lead out and make the MATTS Sub Hour 40K Club. That's if the EMC2 MATTS Finale remains a 39K TT. It would be nice to see it get bumped 1000 meters to a true 40K TT! I got my florescent spray paint ready to help mark the 24.8 mile course.

2012 WBR Bong and a Half TT Recap IIHere's the link to sign up for the Illinois State Time Trial Championship which is Saturday, September 1st in Harvard, Illinois on the "Big Dipper Course." Yes, it's the same course as the MATTS Harvard 33.3K TT. Once again, Northbranch Cycling is putting this event together like they have in the past. They do a really nice job running this state race. Don't forget to bring the toilet paper.
COURSE: Start on Flat Iron Rd. (Hwy 16) south of Hwy 173. Southwest on Flat Iron which turns into Angling Rd (Hwy 6) 8 miles. Left onto Denny Rd 1 mile, left on Orth Rd. 1.5 mile. Left onto Capron Rd 2 miles. Continue straight onto Angling Rd 7 miles northeast and back to the finish just south of Hwy 173.
Harvard's Milky Way park is home to the Harvard 33.3K TT, Bryce Master TT and Illinois State Time Trial.
DIRECTIONS: Hwy 14 to Hwy 173 (on the south side of Harvard, Illinois). Take Hwy 173 west about 2 miles to the Milky Way Park (southwest side of Harvard, Illinois). Turn right into the park.
The day after the Illinois State Time Trial Championship, Big Ring Flyers will be hosting the Return to Cherry Valley II Sunday, September 2nd in Cherry Valley, IL. This race will be a 20K TT just like it was earlier this year in April. Don't forget, the start line has moved south of the railroad tracks at Deer Run, so you'll need to plan accordingly for the ride out to the start. You don't want to be late.
This race will be one of the two remaining 20K's of MATTS. Therefore, if you're wanting to improve upon your time or get your name on the MATTS Sub 30 20K list...this would be the course. For many riders, Kirke Vei might be a bit too difficult to stop the clock under 30 minutes.
If things are going well the morning of September 2nd, five riders should already be on the course. That would be amazing if that was the case. If so, I'll probably be late to my start. |
